Dadi Janki – 10.8.12 Evening – GRC, European Teachers Retreat
Go into the depths
Jayantiben: Dadi, you never imagined you would come abroad. Baba said you were the backbone. Then you came to the West and the Dadis were looking after the yagya. But now all the Dadis have left and Dadi asks: why am I still here? The yagya operates differently now, because there has been so much expansion. How does Dadi see and understand this?
Dadi: We are going to share deep, loving and significant things in this gathering. The answer to the question is merged in these aspects. There’s the song: “Don’t forget the days of your childhood” - lets move along signing and dancing, I didn’t know it would be 76 years - 40 abroad and 35 in Bharat. What we need to share is depth. I look at each one of you as a detached observer. I know every one of you and how you have made Baba belong to you. In the early days I would observe when any child came in front of Baba, the child would recognise Baba and Baba would recognise the child. This is the story of each one of you. Always remember that song: “Don’t forget the days of your childhood.” Who has created this game? Each one of you is an instrument; He does everything by himself and then he hides himself away. But He can’t be hidden from me. What did I know? I was very innocent, just as He is the Innocent Lord; He has brought me here today. There is no-one as unique as the Innocent Lord, He plays no clever games; he doesn’t know how to be crafty. It is the because of the innocence of this godly attraction that service has happened.
In 1978 I went to Madhuban after four years in the UK. When I arrived, Dadiji and Didi were sitting next to Baba; they asked me to join them and Baba then said ‘This trimurti is special.’ Each one must become of such quality; we have to go into the depth of effort. For the past two days we have been exploring effort, I can’t say I have completed my efforts, I can’t make myself free from efforts. Dadi Gulzar has always been known as Dadi, she was different and she had the interest not to get engrossed in too much service but to write Baba’s messages. This is Gulzar’s speciality. Even with her relations there was no feeling that they were physical relations. Gulzar was younger but Baba still made her a Dadi.
Although we three Dadis didn’t spend time together, we paid similar attention to our efforts. Dadiji gave importance to the avyakt part, and we have watched how Madhuban has grown. I ask myself ‘What have I done?’ We were all concerned but Baba explained that the murli would continue to be revised and gave directions for this. The depth exists in Baba. Even today Baba is present in Baba room! Did you know that beneath the trance light Baba’s room is Baba’s ashes? Baba’s body was burned and normally there is the habit of scattering ashes but Baba’s ashes are in Baba’s room and in that place there is so much power, love and that is the service that has happened through Brahma Baba.
You have to have the awareness that I, the soul am Baba’s child. When I say Om Shanti, you don’t give me a good response. My bhavna is: “Who am I, who do I belong to, what do I have to do?” Who makes this effort day and night? Even in my thoughts nothing else comes. Whatever shrimat Brahma Baba gave us, I pay special attention to it and cannot live without bringing it into my life. Because I don’t have manmat, the force of others’ opinions cannot influence me. If there is even the slightest manmat or moving along on the basis of your own thoughts or sanskars, there will be influence or suppression by the nature or sanskars of others. I have to realise this deeply inside. Realise and let me realise what shrimat really is. Go into the depths of shrimat.
As I was coming here, I had to reach here at 6.45pm no later. I thought: Baba you have taught me to be present at the right time. Baba didn’t like it, if you came late to class. These aspects are not given such attention these days.To be punctual, on time, is a sign of royalty - then you don’t have to ask for respect and regard. I have seen how some want regard, they feel: I have done this much I deserve regard. Just check: how I do I interact with others? This is what gives birth to respect then I cannot give excuses not to be accurate, this is an aspect I learnt from the days of Mama and Baba. If someone’s mood is even a little off they don’t recognise God. It says in the Gita that those who are fools don’t recognise me. These are subtle aspects and it’s because of this I am alive an in front of you today. Sometimes, Baba said we have to be worthy to be worshipped; this means our mood can never be off. No matter what is happening, my good mood can transform any situation. So I go into the depths and then there will be that habit; let there also be the love for it, let there be deep love and help others understand.
Someone asked Dadi: Why do so few people understand gyan? It’s because gyan is a very deep subject, and there are very few like that who can understand. It’s through the example of the few that others are served. There are around 25 ancestors whose moods have never spoiled. Mama’s has never fluctuated, Mama held true to all the principles. Once, when Mama was visiting Dadi in Pune, she was invited to go sightseeing and she asked Dadi’s permission if she could go. Ever since then I always make sure everyone knows where I am. It is keeping our honour is to be like this - there is no carelessness, no careless nature. These are very subtle aspects!
Dadi isn’t one who could sit quietly and so Didi wrote her a letter saying: if you need spiritual chitchat you can chat with me. We would sit together and we wouldn’t talk about anything except things that were loving, deep and significant. Sit with Baba in this way. These are very subtle dharnas and we need to pay attention to them. So now please don’t talk to Dadi about situations and problems.
Jayantiben: In what ways did you have to adjust yourself in order to stay in Madhuban?
Dadi: The word adjust is a very valuable word. I was in Hong Kong when Avyakt BapDada shared why he uses Gulzar as His instrument. It is because she has the power to adjust and is free from thoughts. Some say ‘I have to pack’ etc and complain about it but for me matter can only give me co-operation. When I can adjust there is so much benefit of this power. Many times throughout the day, my breath does not work and there is pain, so what do I do? I make my breath work, I have the thought: I have to be present in service, the thought has a connection with the breath and then the breath and thought become one. Sometimes in crowds Dadi’s breath is affected, and I start coughing. If anyone comes in front of Dadi, Dadi would know even if you had garlic 6 months ago - I will smell it. Baba has made us so true and honest and clean that the bad odour of others is removed, and then the atmosphere can be transformed. We need the power to adjust.
Jayantiben: Is it a case of: don’t look at external things on any level but get back to what Madhuban is and see the foundation and connect with it? On an external level there may be many questions but now we have to go back to the essence.
Dadi: Don’t even say Shiv Baba and Brahma Baba - they have come both together. If I saw them separately, that would be an effort. I have the feeling of all three (Shiv Baba, Brahma Baba, Avyakt BapDada) in one, they come together. World service is happening – in our stage all three need to be our companion, then in our yoga we will only remember our Baba. Then there will be success in our actions. Just look how after Dadiji left Baba put His hand on my head and said: The yoga will always continue, because as long as you continue to move, the work can continue to happen. If you think too much, you cannot take benefit from Baba. Free yourself from being upset, free yourself from anything and everything and then everything is easy. Understand these deep and loving aspects then you can become very good.
